From Immigrant to Industry Icon: The Story of Sam Harb

Sam Harb’s journey from a Lebanese immigrant in 1975 to the founder of Australia’s most recognised paving company is a testament to his passion, resilience, and determination. Starting with nothing but a vision and a strong work ethic, Sam and his partner Annette launched a small, home-based paving business in 1985. Their relentless dedication quickly earned Sam the community nickname “Sam the Paving Man,” a name that has since become synonymous with quality and reliability.

In 1985, they launched a small, home-based paving business, working tirelessly day and night—distributing flyers by hand, seeking out clients, and managing projects themselves. It wasn’t long before their dedication paid off, and the community began referring to Sam as “Sam the Paving Man,” a name that would become synonymous with quality and reliability. From these humble beginnings, Sam’s company steadily grew into the industry leader it is today.

A Defining Moment: Sydney Olympic Park 2000

A defining moment came with the completion of the Sydney Olympic Park project, where our team installed over 20 million pavers across 200,000m² of space. The project’s scale and complexity solidified our reputation as the go-to paving experts for large-scale, high-pressure projects. This success propelled us to the forefront of the industry, establishing Sam the Paving Man as Australia’s largest paving company.
