Sydney Place is a culturally significant public realm project in Sydney’s CBD designed by David Adjaye of Adjaye Associates in collaboration with Aboriginal artist Daniel Boyd, with landscape architecture by Turf Design Studio. Conceived as an act of reconciliation, the plaza celebrates the site’s Eora origins through a perforated steel canopy inspired by Aboriginal dot painting, with the circular ceiling motifs replicated through engraved detailing within the stone paving below. As a key feature of the space, Melocco Stone produced 100% locally processed, bespoke natural stone pebble-shaped seating in South Australia, reinforcing the project’s commitment to craft, material integrity and Australian-made excellence.
